In a significant advancement for satellite internet in Pakistan, the Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Authority (PSARA) has issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Starlink, confirming that the company has fulfilled all regulatory requirements. This development follows clearance from the Ministry of Interior, allowing Starlink to proceed with its operations in the country.
Sources said that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is expected to issue licenses to Starlink within the next two weeks, as the company has already submitted its application for licensing.
Starlink has provided the PTA with its technical and business plans and has successfully completed three registration phases in Pakistan. The company has obtained registration from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), in addition to registering with the PSARA.
The final step for Starlink involves obtaining registration from the PTA, after which the company will be able to launch its services. The PTA is currently reviewing the documents submitted by Starlink to ensure that its services will not disrupt the existing telecommunications network.
Pakistan introduced its National Satellite Policy in 2023 and implemented Space Activities Rules in 2024 to bolster space communication in the country. With these developments, Starlink is set to enhance internet connectivity across Pakistan, ushering in a new era for the nation’s internet landscape.
