In Wednesday’s Senate budget debate, Senator Poonjo Bheel called for a minimum 25 percent raise in government employees’ salaries, criticizing the current budget for being smaller than previous years. He also highlighted the hardships faced by farmers, who are burdened with high input costs but receive inadequate returns on their crops.
Senator Kamil Ali Agha echoed these concerns, warning that the proposed 10 percent salary and 7 percent pension increases for government workers fall short of addressing the impact of rising inflation. He urged the government to reconsider these measures to provide greater relief to ordinary citizens and ensure that resources are focused on supporting the underprivileged.
