The Pakistani rupee (PKR) extended its remarkable winning streak against the US Dollar (USD) on Tuesday, marking 106 consecutive days of gains.
Although daily improvements are modest, the rupee continues to defy expectations, achieving a historic run of consistent appreciation against the greenback. Analysts note that such a prolonged positive trend is unprecedented for the local currency.
On Tuesday, the PKR closed at 279.52, climbing three paisas against the USD.
The rupee also strengthened against several other major currencies. It rose by one paisa against the UAE Dirham (AED) and the Saudi Riyal (SAR), while posting significant gains against the British Pound (GBP) and the Euro (EUR), improving by Rs. 1.33 and Rs. 1.24, respectively.
Additionally, the PKR gained 41 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD) and 29 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD).
