In a bid to enhance tourism infrastructure, the Tourism Department of Punjab is set to launch new, modern buses on September 27, coinciding with World Tourism Day. This initiative aims to expedite the implementation of tourism measures across the province.

The fully air-conditioned double-decker buses, provided by the World Bank to boost tourism, were initially scheduled to begin operations on August 14. However, a delay from the department led to a postponement. The buses are expected to arrive at the terminal soon, ready for their new launch date.

In addition to the bus initiative, the Punjab government is also advancing a glass train project, which will run between Rawalpindi and Bhurban in Murree. A working group comprising 18 departments has been established under the leadership of the Punjab transport minister, with key officials including the deputy commissioners of Rawalpindi and Murree.

The 65-kilometer train route will commence from Saddar in Rawalpindi, traversing scenic areas such as the Margalla Hills and Barakahu, before concluding in Bhurban. This project is a component of the Murree Development Plan, with NESCOM conducting a feasibility study to assess costs and timelines.

The working group is also tasked with addressing challenges such as land acquisition for train tracks and stations, ensuring the project is completed efficiently and cost-effectively.
