The Government of Punjab has officially ended the restrictions on the early closure of markets, shopping malls, and restaurants due to a significant improvement in the region’s air quality index. The announcement was made on Friday through a notification issued by Environment Director General Imran Hamid Sheikh.

Effective immediately, businesses across Lahore, Multan, and other parts of Punjab can return to their regular operating hours. This includes restaurants, fast-food chains, and hotels, which are now permitted to operate without any time constraints. Additionally, all types of exhibitions can proceed as planned, without limitations on working hours.

“The ban on closing shops, markets, and malls at 8 PM has been lifted, and the working hour restrictions on other businesses, including restaurants, have also been lifted,” stated DG Imran Hamid Sheikh in the notification.

This decision comes as a relief to business owners and the general public, who had been affected by the previous restrictions implemented to manage lower air quality levels. Local authorities will continue to monitor the air quality to ensure it remains within acceptable levels, balancing environmental concerns with economic activities.
