In a significant step towards women’s empowerment, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Beenish Fatima has launched the ‘Women on Wheels’ program at the Girls Guide House in Rawalpindi, aligning with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision to support women’s independence and mobility.
The initiative invites women at the Girls Guide House to participate in scooter and motorcycle driving training. Interested individuals can register for the training sessions through the traffic police, with sessions conducted within the institute.
The program’s inauguration featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, where Regional Girls Guide Commissioner Dr. Saira Mufti welcomed CTO Fatima. The girl guides presented her with a bouquet in appreciation of her efforts. In its initial phase, the program is expected to benefit approximately 25 girls from the institute.
CTO Beenish Fatima emphasized that the Women on Wheels program aims to empower women by equipping them with the skills to drive safely and independently. She highlighted the importance of self-sufficiency for girls, which would alleviate the burden on their families and enable them to travel to educational institutions or workplaces without transportation challenges. Participants will also receive their driving licenses promptly.
The program extends to women teachers from Rawalpindi and surrounding areas who are interested in learning to drive cars or motorcycles. They are encouraged to contact the traffic police training institute to enroll in the driving courses, further broadening the initiative’s reach and impact.
