Punjab’s government has rejected the proposal to impose early closures on markets, deciding instead that shops and commercial outlets will remain open until 10 PM.

Sources indicate that recommendations presented to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz could not be approved, citing concerns over the financial impact on traders. Officials emphasized that businesses cannot be placed under additional economic pressure at a time when the commercial sector is already facing challenges.

The proposal to curtail working hours has been postponed, with the government planning further consultations with trader organizations and business representatives before any changes are implemented. These ongoing discussions aim to strike a balance between regulatory oversight and the economic interests of Punjab’s business community.
