The Government of Punjab has announced a hike in the minimum wage for workers to Rs. 40,000 in its 2025–26 budget, up from Rs. 37,000 last year.
During the budget presentation, Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman also declared a 10 percent salary increase for provincial government employees across Grades 1 to 22. Additionally, pensions for retired employees are set to rise by 5 percent.
Addressing public concerns, the minister highlighted that the Chief Minister has allocated Rs. 50 billion from the development budget to provide relief on electricity bills, a pressing issue for Punjab’s residents in the previous year.
