The Government of Punjab has approved a plan to procure new vehicles worth Rs. 523.5 million for official VIP use, according to official sources.
The purchase includes 20 Toyota Fortuner units and 12 Toyota Hilux vehicles. The fleet will also be equipped with enhanced security features, including night vision and thermal imaging systems.
The finance department had raised objections over the high-end nature of some vehicles. However, the proposal was cleared following recommendations from the transport department.
The decision has attracted attention as it comes at a time of economic pressure, raising questions about government spending priorities, particularly on official transport and security arrangements.
