The Punjab government has announced plans to extend the Green Line Metro Bus service from Lahore to Kasur, aiming to improve public transportation and connectivity for residents in the region. The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the province’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the Transport Department to conduct a feasibility study to assess the viability of extending the metro bus track from Gajumata to Kasur City. The study will evaluate the practicality and cost-effectiveness of the project, providing a roadmap for its implementation.
The Transport Department is already working on the study, which will determine the funding and resources required to complete the expansion. The findings will play a crucial role in deciding the next steps for the project.
Improved Connectivity for Kasur Residents
Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan highlighted that the proposed extension of the Green Line Metro Bus service is a key part of the government’s strategy to enhance public transportation. Once completed, the extended service will provide reliable and affordable transport for the residents of Kasur, improving their access to Lahore and other areas.
“The final decision on funding and implementation will depend on the feasibility study, which will outline the necessary steps to link Kasur to Lahore’s metro network,” the minister stated.
