Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed grave concern over the recent spike in chicken prices across the province, directing authorities to take immediate steps to stabilize rates.

Chairing a special session in Lahore on Wednesday, the Chief Minister instructed officials to intensify monitoring of essential vegetable prices, including tomatoes, onions, garlic, ginger, green chilies, and lemons, particularly as Eid-ul-Azha approaches.

Maryam Nawaz underscored the importance of price stability, warning that any artificial inflation or hoarding of key vegetables ahead of the festival would not be tolerated. She vowed strict action against those found manipulating prices.

The Chief Minister also ordered urgent measures to reduce the price of ‘roti’ in light of the recent drop in flour prices. Additionally, she tasked the Agriculture Department with developing a practical plan to lower vegetable transportation costs and encourage the cultivation of off-season vegetables to ensure steady supply and affordability.
