The Punjab Environmental Department has issued updated guidelines in response to improved smog conditions across the province. Among the significant changes, restaurants and hotels are now permitted to remain open for dine-in and outdoor services until 10 PM, extending the previous closure time of 4 PM. Home delivery services will continue to operate without any restrictions.
The improvement in air quality is largely attributed to recent rainfall and changes in wind speed and direction. Authorities, including divisional and deputy commissioners, have been tasked with ensuring the implementation of these revised measures.
In a related development, the Punjab government has announced the reopening of schools in certain areas following a reduction in smog levels. Schools in the Rawalpindi Division, which includes Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, and Chakwal, have resumed operations today. These schools were previously closed from November 17 to 25 due to hazardous air quality.
