In response to recent media reports suggesting that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) plans to block VPNs, the authority has clarified that VPNs are not being blocked in Pakistan.

Instead, the PTA is urging IT companies, software houses, freelancers, banks, and other entities to register their IPs for VPN usage to ensure that their internet services remain unaffected in case of any disruptions.

The VPN registration process is designed to be a “one window operation,” accessible through the PTA and Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) websites. The registration is free of cost and typically takes 2 to 3 days to complete.

To maintain secure and uninterrupted online business operations, entities are encouraged to register their VPNs at the following link: https://ipregistration.pta.gov.pk
