The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) alert for the regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, warning of a wet spell expected to hit the area this week.

According to the official alert, scattered rain and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy downpours, are forecasted for both regions. The PMD cautions that these prevailing weather conditions significantly increase the risk of GLOFs and flash floods, particularly in vulnerable glaciated areas.

Authorities have advised all concerned parties to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to avoid any untoward situations. The alert, signed by Deputy Director Adnan Shafiq Rana, urges residents and local administrations to stay alert and implement safety measures as the situation develops.
