Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that he would soon deliver good news regarding a reduction in electricity tariffs, acknowledging that the industrial sector’s growth is contingent on lower power prices.
Speaking at a ceremony celebrating Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day, he urged the nation, particularly the youth, to support the government’s efforts to achieve prosperity, stability, and peace.
The Prime Minister emphasized the crucial role of youth in the country’s future, urging them to focus on education and skill development while avoiding manipulation by adversaries aiming to exploit their potential for anti-state activities. He warned of the enemy’s tactics to hinder Pakistan’s progress, including the use of “digital terrorism” to spread misinformation and disrupt development.
Paying tribute to the sacrifices of the forefathers and unsung heroes of the Pakistan Movement, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed his commitment to combating digital misinformation with truth. He highlighted the vision of Allama Muhammad Iqbal and the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, which led to Pakistan’s emergence as an independent state on August 14, 1947.
Addressing public concerns over high electricity bills, inflation, and unemployment, the Prime Minister promised to provide maximum relief to the masses. He also commended individuals from various sectors, including sports, education, and health, for their contributions to the nation, specifically saluting Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem, who was present at the ceremony.
Prime Minister Sharif expressed his determination to fulfill Quaid-i-Azam’s dream by working tirelessly for the country’s development. He announced plans to address the nation soon with a five-year economic plan aimed at achieving long-term stability.
Condemning Israeli actions against Palestinians, the Prime Minister noted that the ongoing violence had overshadowed Independence Day celebrations. He reiterated the government’s support for the Kashmiri people, pledging to stand by them until their issue is resolved in accordance with their wishes.
Reflecting on Pakistan’s 77-year journey, Prime Minister Sharif acknowledged past challenges due to political power struggles and mistakes but praised the resilience of the Pakistani people in overcoming natural disasters and economic hardships. He called for learning from the past and moving forward with renewed determination toward prosperity and development.
The Prime Minister paid tribute to laborers, daily-wagers, engineers, doctors, teachers, students, writers, journalists, sportsmen, and other societal contributors for their service to the nation. He also honored the valiant personnel of security forces and law enforcement agencies for their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
