Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday assured that no changes have been made to the existing solarization policy, directing authorities to dispel any public misconceptions with accurate data and statistics. He emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining the policy and addressing concerns raised by stakeholders.

During a review meeting on the Power Division, the prime minister announced that a package is being prepared to reduce electricity tariffs, aiming to provide relief to the public. He also highlighted that ongoing reforms in the power sector would further ease electricity prices for consumers.

The prime minister instructed officials to expedite the resolution of legal and procedural issues related to the privatization of power generation companies. He also called for accelerating the privatization process of power distribution companies to improve efficiency and service delivery.

To strengthen the country’s energy strategy, PM Shehbaz stressed the need for enhanced coordination among the Power Division, Water Resources Division, and Petroleum Division. He urged all departments to work together to ensure a cohesive and effective energy policy.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Power Sardar Owais Ahmed Leghari, Advisor Dr. Tauqir Shah, and senior government officials. Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema and Advisor Muhammad Ali participated via video link.
