Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the launch to the largest reform program in Pakistan’s history aimed at improving the ease of doing business.
This initiative is expected to streamline and simplify the regulatory environment for businesses operating in the country.
A key component of this program is the establishment of the first digital registry of Pakistani laws and regulations to promote business and investment.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to international organizations for their interest in funding the project and directed that agreements with these organizations be finalized promptly. He emphasized the importance of timely and practical implementation of the policy measures and instructed relevant authorities and ministries to ensure this.
To oversee the execution of the project, the Prime Minister has constituted a special committee dedicated to its implementation. The first phase of the project will focus on reforms in the most critical sectors.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended special thanks to Dr. Scott Jacob for his contributions to the project. The meeting included a detailed briefing on the project’s scope and the timeline for its implementation.
It was highlighted that the digital registry will consolidate and digitize all existing laws and regulations related to investment in Pakistan, eliminating unnecessary rules that hinder business operations.
The digitization process is expected to reduce the time required for registration, permits, and other necessary steps by removing bureaucratic hurdles. This initiative aims to not only facilitate investment and business but also to spur rapid development in the private sector.
