The federal government on Sunday announced an increase in petroleum prices for the next fortnight, raising the rate of petrol by Rs8 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs5.16 per litre.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the revised prices came into effect from March 1, 2026, following recommendations by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

With the latest adjustment, the price of petrol (motor spirit) has been set at Rs266.17 per litre. The updated rates will remain applicable for 15 days and will be reviewed again in line with changing international market conditions.

The upward revision comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East after the United States and Israel launched joint missile attack against Iran on Saturday, triggering volatility in global commodity markets. Analysts warn that continued instability in the region could exert further pressure on domestic fuel prices in the coming weeks.
