Pakistan’s IT industry made a significant mark at GITEX Global 2024 in Dubai, where it was named the “Tech Destination of the Year.”
Over 200 companies, startups, and industry experts from Pakistan participated, taking center stage at one of the world’s largest technology exhibitions. The high level of participation underscored the growing influence of Pakistan’s tech sector, which has been expanding rapidly and gaining international attention.
According to the IT Ministry, the Pakistan Pavilion at GITEX 2024 showcased the country’s dynamic and fast-evolving tech ecosystem. Exhibitors had access to B2B networking events, where they connected with global industry leaders, top IT experts, and investors. These interactions opened up opportunities for collaboration and partnerships, positioning Pakistan as a key player in the global tech landscape.
Minister of State for IT and Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, commended the achievements of Pakistani tech companies at the event. She highlighted the numerous agreements and partnerships signed by these companies, which she said would open new markets for Pakistan’s growing IT sector. “This success is a testament to our country’s increasing influence as a global tech hub,” she added, emphasizing the role of the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication in promoting Pakistan’s IT industry on the international stage.
According to the IT Ministry, during the five-day exhibition, many Pakistani companies signed key Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with international partners. These agreements are expected to drive innovation and growth in the country’s tech industry, fostering new collaborations with global players. The event provided an excellent platform for Pakistani startups and companies to secure international partnerships and funding.
GITEX Global, held from October 14 to 18, connects industry leaders with tech startups, government officials, investors, and corporate buyers. The event holds particular importance for Pakistan, which is eager to showcase its capabilities and secure a foothold in lucrative markets, particularly in the Middle East.
Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja expressed her pride in the accomplishments of Pakistani companies at the event. She praised the signing of MoUs and the establishment of key partnerships, which she believes will significantly boost the country’s tech sector in the coming years.
