Mobile phone imports into Pakistan fell by 14.21 percent during the first ten months of the current fiscal year (July–April 2024–25), according to the latest data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Between July and April, Pakistan imported mobile phones worth $1.254 billion, down from $1.462 billion in the same period last year.

The decline was even more pronounced on a year-on-year basis, with April 2025 imports dropping 22.47 percent to $125.12 million, compared to $161.38 million in April 2024. Month-on-month, mobile phone imports slipped 3.96 percent from $130.27 million in March 2025.

In contrast to the slump in mobile phone imports, Pakistan’s overall merchandise trade showed signs of growth. Exports for July–April 2025 rose by 6.4 percent to $26.90 billion, up from $25.28 billion in the corresponding period of FY24. Meanwhile, total imports increased by 7.55 percent, reaching $48.29 billion compared to $44.9 billion last year, reflecting rising demand for a wider range of goods across the economy.
