The Pakistani rupee (PKR) continued its upward streak against the US dollar for the 124th straight session on Tuesday, closing at 279.22 after a marginal gain of three paisas.
However, the local currency faced pressure against several other major currencies during the same trading session, recording notable declines.
Against the euro and British pound, the rupee lost significant ground, slipping by around Rs. 4.3 and Rs. 4.6 respectively. It also declined by Rs. 1.18 against the Australian dollar.
In contrast, the rupee showed mixed performance against regional and other currencies. It edged up by two paisas against the UAE dirham while slipping by one paisa against the Saudi riyal. Meanwhile, it gained eight paisas against the Canadian dollar and posted a slight improvement against the US dollar.
Overall, the currency market reflected a mixed trend, with the rupee maintaining strength against the dollar but weakening against several global currencies.
