The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is integrating the country’s internet infrastructure with the 2Africa Cable, the world’s largest subsea cable project spanning 45,000 kilometers. This ambitious initiative, led by Meta (formerly Facebook), is expected to significantly enhance internet speeds across Pakistan.
According to sources, the physical integration of Pakistan’s internet framework with the 2Africa Cable is already underway. Once operational, the project will provide users in Pakistan with access to one of the fastest internet services globally, revolutionizing the country’s digital connectivity.
The 2Africa Cable connects 46 landing stations across Europe, Africa, and Asia, and is projected to go live in Pakistan by 2025. This extensive network is designed to handle massive traffic loads, ensuring improved internet services for users in the region.
