Pakistan successfully repelled cyber attacks launched by India targeting various federal ministries and divisions, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja revealed during a briefing with IT and telecom reporters.

The minister confirmed that multiple ministries were targeted in the hostile cyber intrusions, but Pakistan’s robust cybersecurity defenses prevented any significant damage or disruption. She explained that the websites of federal ministries are hosted on the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) system, which employs strong cybersecurity measures. “There was no significant disruption, and our systems remained intact,” she assured.

Shaza Fatima highlighted the role of Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) established at both national and provincial levels, which regularly issue advisories and raise public awareness about cyber threats. The National Telecommunications and Information Security Board (NTISB) is also actively monitoring such activities to safeguard the country’s digital infrastructure.

Emphasizing Pakistan’s progress in digital defense, the minister noted that over the past two years, Pakistan has risen to join the ranks of top-tier nations in cybersecurity, standing alongside countries like the United States and the United Kingdom in global cybersecurity rankings.

Addressing the ongoing digital tensions between India and Pakistan, Shaza Fatima praised the resilience and creativity of Pakistani youth on social media. She said young people are countering hostile narratives with humor and innovation, using memes to express themselves amid tense situations. “We are not a nation that fears intimidation,” she concluded.
