Israel temporarily removed two senior Iranian officials from its list of potential military targets after Pakistan urged the United States to prevent their elimination, Reuters reported.

The source said Israeli authorities had identified the locations of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and were considering targeting them. Pakistan reportedly conveyed to Washington that removing key political figures could eliminate remaining diplomatic channels needed for negotiations.

Following the request, U.S. officials asked Israel to refrain from action, the source added, arguing that preserving senior leadership was essential for any potential peace dialogue.

Pakistan’s military and the Foreign Office did not immediately comment on the claim.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that the two Iranian officials had been temporarily taken off Israel’s target list for several days while diplomatic efforts were explored, citing U.S. officials. The report, however, did not mention Pakistan’s involvement.

Pakistan, alongside Egypt and Turkey, has been engaged in mediation efforts aimed at easing tensions between Tehran and Washington. Islamabad has maintained communication channels with both sides at a time when direct contact remains limited for many countries, raising the possibility that Pakistan could serve as a venue for future peace negotiations.

According to sources familiar with ongoing diplomacy, Iran is reviewing a 15-point proposal presented by U.S. President Donald Trump through Pakistani intermediaries. The plan reportedly includes measures such as reducing Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, halting enrichment activities, limiting ballistic missile development, and restricting support for regional allied groups.

While Trump has suggested Tehran is eager to reach an agreement, Araqchi has stated that Iran is examining the proposal but currently has no intention of entering talks aimed at ending the conflict.
