Pakistan is considering easing its visa policy so that fans and officials, including those traveling from India, can watch or cover the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy cricket tournament in Pakistan. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, announced this during a media briefing at Pindi Stadium.

Tarar revealed that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who also heads the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is working on finalizing the visa policy in collaboration with the Foreign Office. “All fans and concerned officials traveling from all parts of the world, including from India, will be welcomed to watch and perform their respective duties. A visa policy to facilitate travel is under consideration,” he stated.

The minister emphasized Pakistan’s tradition of welcoming Indian fans and travelers during previous bilateral cricket series. “Unlike our neighbors, we always welcomed our guests and separated sports and politics. Even former Indian cricketers have praised Pakistan’s hospitality. There will be no difference this time around,” he added.

Tarar also congratulated the Pakistan cricket team on their recent success, including a 3-0 ODI series victory against South Africa and earlier wins against Australia. “These achievements clearly indicate that our cricket is heading in the right direction. The Champions Cup T20 cricket has also showcased some of the best talent, proving that Pakistan is full of potential cricketers capable of making a mark internationally,” he said.

The minister expressed hope that Pakistan would successfully defend its Champions Trophy title, bringing pride to the nation.
