Azerbaijan has officially received the first batch of JF-17C (Block-III) multirole fighter jets, marking a significant enhancement to its military capabilities. Developed through a collaboration between the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and China’s Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation, the JF-17C jets are renowned for their versatility in both air-to-air and air-to-ground combat.

The handover ceremony, held at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, was attended by President Ilham Aliyev, underscoring the importance of this acquisition for the nation’s defense strategy.

These advanced aircraft are equipped to perform missions in all weather conditions, and their high maneuverability makes them a valuable asset to Azerbaijan’s Air Force.

During the ceremony, Air Vice Marshal Hakim Raza, Chairman of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, highlighted the tactical and operational capabilities of the jets, emphasizing their role in strengthening Azerbaijan’s defense posture.

While the exact number of jets and the financial details of the deal remain undisclosed, earlier reports suggest that Azerbaijan’s acquisition is part of a broader defense agreement valued at $1.6 billion. This transaction is expected to deepen military ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, as both nations seek to bolster their defense cooperation.

The delivery of these jets follows President Aliyev’s recent visit to Pakistan, where discussions centered on enhancing economic and military relations between the two countries. This strategic partnership is poised to contribute significantly to regional stability and security.
