Internet users across Pakistan are likely to experience intermittent slowdowns starting tomorrow, with disruptions expected to last up to a week due to scheduled maintenance on a key international submarine cable system.

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has notified customers that an international cable consortium will carry out urgent repair work on an undersea communication line to resolve a technical fault.

The maintenance operation is set to commence on 14 April 2026 and may continue until 20 April 2026. During this period, internet users nationwide may face reduced speeds and unstable connectivity, particularly during peak evening hours when network traffic is at its highest.

PTCL said that while engineers will work to minimize service disruption, some impact on internet performance is unavoidable given the scale and complexity of repairs on the global submarine cable infrastructure.

The company has apologized for the inconvenience and advised customers to anticipate temporary fluctuations in internet quality throughout the maintenance window.
