Pakistan’s car sales, as reported by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), stood at 15,531 units in March 2026, up 40 percent YoY but down 9 percent MoM. This brought total sales for 9MFY26 to 144,029 units, reflecting a 43 percent YoY increase.

The monthly decline was mainly driven by a 23 percent MoM drop in sales of Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC), while non-PSMC sales increased 4 percent MoM.

The strong YoY growth was supported by new market entrants, lower interest rates, easing inflation, and improving macroeconomic sentiment.

Company-wise Performance

Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW) sold 1,734 units in March 2026, up 84 percent YoY and 3 percent MoM.

Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR) recorded sales of 2,324 units, up 63 percent YoY and 10 percent MoM. Sales of City and Civic rose 71 percent YoY and 10 percent MoM to 2,049 units, while BR-V and HR-V sales increased 18 percent YoY and 9 percent MoM to 275 units.

Indus Motor Company (INDU) posted sales of 3,873 units, up 24 percent YoY and 19 percent MoM. Corolla, Yaris, and Corolla Cross sales collectively rose 32 percent YoY and 1 percent MoM to 3,145 units. Fortuner and IMV sales declined 3 percent YoY but increased 2 percent MoM to 728 units.

Hyundai Nishat Motors recorded declines of 3 percent YoY and 9 percent MoM, with total sales of 928 units.

PSMC reported a 38 percent YoY increase but a sharp 9 percent MoM decline to 6,250 units.

Two- and Three-Wheeler Segment

Two- and three-wheeler sales increased 31 percent YoY and 4 percent MoM to 166,633 units in March 2026, taking cumulative 9MFY26 sales to 1.4 million units, up 31 percent YoY.

Atlas Honda (ATLH), maker of the CD70 motorcycle, posted sales growth of 34 percent YoY and 5 percent MoM, reaching 142,000 units.

Tractors and Commercial Vehicles

Tractor sales surged 96 percent YoY and 63 percent MoM to 3,008 units in April 2026.

Truck and bus sales increased 23 percent YoY but declined 15 percent MoM to 566 units in April 2026.

Outlook

The outlook for the auto sector remains positive in 2026, supported by lower interest rates and the introduction of new hybrid and plug-in hybrid models.
