The Pakistan auto industry has reported a substantial increase in car sales, with figures reaching 17,010 units in January 2025, marking a 61% year-on-year (YoY) rise and a 73% month-on-month (MoM) increase, hitting a 25-month high. This growth is attributed to lower interest rates, improved consumer confidence, and the introduction of new vehicle models.
The total car sales for the first seven months of the fiscal year 2025 (7MFY25) have reached 77,686 units, reflecting a 55% YoY increase from 49,989 units in the same period last year.
Company Performance
- Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC): Achieved an 81% YoY and 37% MoM increase, driven by the popularity of its Alto model.
- Indus Motor Company (INDU): Reported a 21% YoY and 2x MoM increase, with Toyota Hilux sales surging by 301% YoY.
- Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR): Saw a 65% YoY and 99% MoM rise, while Hyundai Nishat experienced a 25% YoY and 14% MoM increase.
Motorbikes and Three-Wheelers
The sector saw a 38% YoY and 18% MoM increase, totaling 139,161 units. Atlas Honda led the growth with a 26% YoY rise.
Tractors and Trucks
- Tractors: Sales increased by 28% YoY and 61% MoM, reaching 2,761 units.
- Trucks and Buses: Sales rose by 2.57x YoY and 3.22x MoM, with 621 units sold.
