Pakistan and India have carried out a prisoner exchange at the Wagah-Attari border on Wednesday.
Pakistan released Indian Border Security Force (BSF) constable Purnam Kumar Shaw, who had been held for nearly three weeks after inadvertently crossing into Pakistani territory. In a reciprocal gesture, India handed over Muhammad Ullah, a member of the Punjab Rangers, to Pakistani authorities.
The exchange follows a period of escalating hostilities between the two neighbors. After India launched “Operation Sindoor,” Pakistan responded with “Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos,” resulting in a series of retaliatory strikes.
During the recent confrontations, Pakistan showcased its military capabilities by downing several Indian fighter jets using Chinese-made J-10C aircraft armed with PL-15 missiles.
