A key agreement involves the Finance Division of Pakistan signing an MOU with the Financial Monitoring Unit and the Financial Intelligence Unit of Belarus. This agreement focuses on the exchange of financial intelligence related to money laundering, highlighting both nations’ commitment to combating financial crimes.
During the upcoming visit of President Aleksandr Lukashenko of Belarus to Pakistan, the two countries are set to sign 16 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
The MOUs cover a wide range of areas, including:
- Customs Cooperation: An MOU between the State Customs Committee of Belarus and the Customs Wing of Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue will facilitate the exchange of customs statistics data on bilateral trade.
- Vocational Education: Cooperation in vocational education will be enhanced through an MOU between the Republican Institute for Vocational Education of Belarus and Pakistan’s National Vocational and Technical Commission.
- Environment and Climate Change: An MOU will be signed to promote collaboration in addressing environmental and climate change issues.
- Science and Technology: Agreements between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, as well as the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, will foster scientific and technological cooperation.
- Extradition and Security: An agreement on extradition and another on the mutual protection of classified information will be signed, reflecting a commitment to security and legal cooperation.
- Trade and Commerce: A roadmap for comprehensive cooperation from 2025 to 2027 and an MOU on electronic commerce will be established to boost trade relations.
- Emergency Management: A draft agreement on cooperation in the prevention and elimination of emergencies will be signed, involving the National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan.
- Health and Halal Trade: MOUs will be signed to enhance cooperation in health services and halal trade, involving the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan and the Pakistan Halal Authority.
- Accreditation: An MOU in the field of accreditation will be signed between the Pakistan National Accreditation Council and the Belarusian Center for Accreditation.
These agreements signify a significant step forward in the relationship between Pakistan and Belarus, paving the way for enhanced collaboration in trade, education, science, and security.
