The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has revealed that 1,064,639 women entrepreneurs in Pakistan are active income tax filers, with their names appearing on the “Active Taxpayers List” (ATL) for the tax period of 2024. This data, released as part of the FBR’s “Active Women Taxpayers” report, highlights the growing participation of women in the country’s business sector.

According to the report, the largest group of active women taxpayers comprises 138,841 individual taxpayers who have declared income from business activities. These women represent the highest number of return filers in the FBR’s ATL under the individual category.

The data also shows that 22,088 Active Taxpayers are from Associations of Persons (AOPs) with 50 percent or more women members. Additionally, the number of companies with 50 percent or more women directors has seen a significant increase, rising from 20,671 in 2022 to 41,629 in 2024.

The FBR emphasized its commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs and promoting women-led businesses. As part of these efforts, the FBR has begun publishing data on women-owned businesses and women entrepreneurs who are active taxpayers.

The data will be updated every six months and categorized into three groups:

Category-I: Individual Active Taxpayers who have declared income from business activities, including income under the presumptive tax regime.
Category-II: Active Associations of Persons (AOPs) with 50 percent or more women members.
Category-III: Companies with 50 percent or more women directors.
