The Joint Venture of Sinjhoro Block, led by Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) with partners Orient Petroleum and GHPL, has announced a significant gas condensate discovery at the Baloch-2 well in exploratory zone of the Sembar Formation within the Baloch Development and Production Lease, this discovery marks a milestone for the Sinjhoro Exploration Licence in District Sanghar, Sindh Province.
OGDCL, holding a 76% working interest, spudded the Baloch-2 well on February 24, 2024, reaching a total depth of 3,920 meters. The exploratory effort, supported by in-house evaluation and technical input from Joint Venture Partners, resulted in a successful Drill Stem Test-3.
The test revealed a production capacity of 6.8 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 388 barrels of condensate per day (BCPD) through a 32/64″ choke at a wellhead flowing pressure of 2180 psi.
This discovery highlights the promising potential of the Sembar Formation, known for its extensive distribution across Pakistan’s Middle and Lower Indus basin. OGDCL plans to further appraise and develop Baloch-2 and is considering re-entering existing shut-in wells to maximize the formation’s potential.
