The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has categorically stated that the deadline for filing income tax returns is September 30, and there will be no extension to this deadline.
It announced that approximately 1.425 million individuals have filed their income tax returns so far.
According to the FBR, individuals with an annual income exceeding Rs. 600,000 are required to file tax returns. Additionally, owners of houses, properties, or vehicles must also file income tax returns.
FBR officials have warned that non-filers may face disconnection of their mobile phone SIMs, electricity, or gas connections. Business individuals with income above the specified threshold are also obligated to submit their tax returns.
The FBR has cautioned that legal action will be taken against those who fail to file their returns despite receiving notices. Furthermore, after issuing warnings, the bank accounts of non-filers may be frozen, according to FBR officials.
