Pakistan is bracing for fresh severe weather as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warns of widespread rain, thunderstorms and powerful winds across Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and south Punjab.
Heavy downpours earlier claimed at least 12 lives, including eight children, and left dozens injured while hundreds of homes were damaged or destroyed. Rescue operations continue as relief teams work to support affected communities.
According to provincial disaster officials, the incoming system — driven by strong western winds — could bring flash floods, urban inundation and landslides, posing serious risks to villages and roads in the country’s hardest hit regions.
Quetta has already seen rain and strong winds, leading to power outages and further discomfort for residents, while authorities have urged people to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors until the storm threat eases.
Emergency services, ambulances and relief supplies are on standby, and districts including Mastung, Sibi, Kalat and Chaman are expected to be among the worst affected.
