Preparations for the operationalization of the New Gwadar International Airport have entered their final stages, with the facility expected to be fully operational by the end of this month, according to the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA). Acting Director General of the PCAA, Zeeshan Saeed, visited the site to review the progress.
During his visit, Project Director Faizullah Khattak briefed the acting DG on the airport’s operational preparations. The project team also provided a detailed briefing to airport stakeholders, highlighting business opportunities and the development of economic zones linked to the airport.
The acting DG expressed satisfaction with the progress and preparations, commending the team for their efforts to ensure the airport’s readiness.
The New Gwadar International Airport, built at a cost of $246 million, including a grant from China, is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. It features a large runway and a modern terminal building, making it capable of accommodating all types of large aircraft, according to the PCAA.
The airport is expected to play a pivotal role in promoting trade and economic development in the region, serving as a key hub for connectivity and business growth.
