The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), in coordination with other security agencies, has arrested the main suspect behind a gang accused of selling sensitive data of Pakistani citizens on social media platforms.
Officials identified the suspect as Bilal, who allegedly played a central role in the illegal sale of personal information, which reportedly enabled foreign agencies to access confidential citizen data.
The operation was carried out based on human intelligence, leading to Bilal’s arrest. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the network and apprehend other members involved in the scheme.
NCCIA confirmed that raid operations are still underway to identify individuals who may have facilitated the illegal sale of data. An FIR has been registered against Bilal, and legal proceedings have been initiated.
The agency emphasized that all facilitators will be held accountable under the law. The Director General of NCCIA reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to protecting Pakistan’s digital security and sovereignty, warning that no one will be allowed to compromise the country’s digital assets or reputation.
