The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi has successfully reclaimed 43.11 acres of high-value land belonging to Pakistan Railways, valued at Rs. 9.671 billion, marking a major achievement in its efforts to safeguard state assets.

The recovered property, located at Survey Numbers 48, 49, 50, and 51 in Deh Khanto Juma Goth, Karachi, had long been under the illegal possession of private textile mills. The case originally emerged on July 13, 2019, when reports of encroachment were first investigated.

Although the inquiry was briefly halted due to a Supreme Court decision, Pakistan Railways requested its reopening in 2025. The renewed investigation targeted officials from the Railway and Revenue Departments, along with others allegedly involved in facilitating the encroachment.

While Pakistan Railways had claimed possession of the land in 2021 in line with Supreme Court directives, NAB’s investigation confirmed that private entities still occupied the site. Thanks to persistent efforts by NAB officers, the matter was resolved, and the land has now been officially restored to Pakistan Railways.

Officials described the recovery as a significant milestone for NAB, demonstrating the bureau’s dedication to protecting public property. By returning this prime land to the public sector, NAB has reinforced its role as a key institution in combating illegal encroachments and upholding government integrity.
