The Hungarian Oil and Gas Public Limited Company MOL Group has discovered hydrocarbons at TAL Block in exploratory well Razgir-1, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In a notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, Pakistan Oil Fields disclosed that hydrocarbons have been discovered in the Kawagarh formation as a result of a Drill Stem Test (DST) conducted by MOL, the operator of the TAL Block.

This announcement follows the company’s earlier communication on July 29, 2024, regarding the testing results of the Lumshiwal formation at the same well.

The initial testing, conducted before any acid stimulation job, revealed promising results with the well producing 16.40 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and 159 barrels of condensate per day. These results were achieved at a fixed choke size of 40/64″ and a flowing wellhead pressure of 1,874 psi.

The company emphasized that testing operations are still ongoing to determine the true potential of the well. A DST is a critical procedure used to isolate and test geological formations through the drill stem, providing essential fluid sampling information and assessing the probability of commercial production.

However, POL cautioned that actual production figures may vary significantly from the test results.

Pakistan Oilfields Limited holds a 25% pre-commerciality working interest in the TAL Block. The company remains optimistic about the potential of the Razgir-1 well and continues to monitor the progress of the testing operations.
