Motorists in Pakistan may soon get a modest reprieve at the pump, as petroleum prices are expected to see a slight decrease following minor fluctuations in international oil markets. According to industry sources, diesel rates could drop by Rs. 0.28 per litre, while petrol may see a reduction of Rs. 0.6 per litre.
If approved, the new prices would bring petrol down to Rs. 252.03 per litre from the current Rs. 252.63, and high-speed diesel to Rs. 254.36 per litre from Rs. 254.64.
However, not all fuels are headed south. Kerosene is likely to inch up by Rs. 0.3 per litre, reaching Rs. 164.96, while Light Diesel Oil could see a more noticeable increase of Rs. 1.3 per litre.
For context, the last price adjustment on April 15 saw no change in petrol or diesel rates. Prior to that, the government had trimmed both by Rs. 2 per litre.
