Mari Energies Ltd. reported a gas and condensate discovery at its Shams-1 exploratory well in Pakistan’s Sindh.

According to a filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the well, located in the Mari Development and Production Lease (D&PL) area in Ghotki district, was spudded on January 30 and drilled to a total depth of 3,075 meters, the company said.

During testing, the well flowed at a rate of about 47.98 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas, along with 64 barrels per day of condensate. The well recorded a stabilized wellhead flowing pressure of 2,404 pounds per square inch gauge (psig).

The discovery was made in the Lower Goru-B sand formation, a key hydrocarbon-bearing zone in the region.

Mari Energies operates the block with a 100% working interest. The find is expected to support Pakistan’s efforts to boost domestic energy supplies amid persistent gas shortages.
