Mari Energies Limited has reported a second gas and condensate discovery at its Spinwam-1 exploration well in the Waziristan Block, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a notification sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Monday.

The company revealed that the new discovery was made in the Kawagarh Formation, following an initial discovery in the Samanasuk Formation announced on February 25, 2025. The well has demonstrated significant production capacity, flowing at 20.485 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and approximately 117 barrels per day of condensate at a 32/64″ choke with a Well Head Flowing Pressure of 3,431 psig.

“Further testing of additional targeted formations is underway to fully evaluate the well’s potential,” stated Brigadier Sumair Ashraf Sheikh (Retired), Company Secretary of Mari Energies, in the notification.

Mari Energies serves as the operator of the Waziristan Block with a 55% working interest. The company’s joint venture partners include Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) with a 35% stake and Orient Petroleum Inc. holding the remaining 10% interest.

This second discovery represents a significant development for Pakistan’s domestic hydrocarbon exploration efforts and could contribute to addressing the country’s energy needs. The Waziristan Block is located in a region that has seen increased exploration activity as Pakistan seeks to reduce its dependence on imported energy.
