Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices in Pakistan have surged sharply, with retail rates climbing by up to Rs. 100 per kilogram due to supply disruptions linked to tensions in Iran.
Industry sources report that LPG, previously priced around Rs. 250 per kilogram, is now selling for Rs. 320 to Rs. 350 per kilogram in the local market.
Ali Haider, a leader of the LPG Marketing Association, said the supply shortage is a direct result of the regional instability, which has pushed domestic prices upward.
The association has called on the government to seek alternative LPG suppliers, including Russia and Oman, to ensure steady supply and prevent further price hikes.
