The launch of the New Uraan Pakistan National Economic Transformation Plan (NETEP) 2024-2029, originally scheduled for December 13, 2024, has been postponed, the Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives announced on Wednesday.
“We regret to inform you that the launching ceremony of Uraan Pakistan – A Homegrown National Economic Transformation Plan, originally scheduled for December 13, 2024, has been postponed due to certain unavoidable reasons,” the ministry said in an official statement. A new date for the event will be announced soon.
The New Uraan Pakistan plan is a comprehensive economic roadmap aimed at steering Pakistan toward sustainable and high economic growth. The government’s ambitious vision under the plan includes expanding the country’s economy from its current size of $374 billion to $1 trillion by 2035.
To achieve this, the plan sets bold targets, including raising annual economic growth to 9.8 percent, increasing literacy rates by 10 percent to reach 70 percent, and reducing poverty by 13 percent.
The plan also addresses critical national challenges, such as reducing subsidies, eliminating circular debt, and prioritizing environmental sustainability. It aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent as part of its commitment to tackling climate change.
The Ministry of Planning emphasized that the plan represents a homegrown strategy to transform Pakistan’s economy and address long-standing structural issues. Further details and the rescheduled launch date are expected to be announced in the coming days.
