The Kuwait National Guard has reassured residents that there is no radiation threat to the country from neighboring regions, addressing concerns arising from ongoing geopolitical tensions.
In a statement accompanied by a video message, the National Guard confirmed that Kuwait remains safe, with monitoring systems detecting no signs of radioactive danger.
Distance Minimizes Risk
Officials noted that the nearest advanced nuclear facility is located more than 240 kilometers away, a distance considered sufficient to significantly reduce any potential radiation impact. They added that radioactive materials, if released, would dissipate before reaching Kuwait’s borders.
Public Urged to Remain Calm
Authorities emphasized that all necessary precautionary measures are already in place to safeguard public health. Residents, including both citizens and expatriates, have been advised to remain calm and avoid panic during the current period of uncertainty.
Emergency Precautions Shared
As part of awareness efforts, officials outlined basic safety guidelines in the unlikely event of an emergency, including:
- Staying indoors
- Sealing windows and openings
- Following instructions from official government channels
They also provided general guidance for outdoor exposure scenarios and explained emergency response procedures.
Monitoring and Coordination
Kuwait continues to strengthen its monitoring infrastructure in coordination with international bodies such as the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Officials stressed that these measures are precautionary and reflect the country’s commitment to maintaining safety standards and protecting the well-being of all residents.
