The benchmark KSE-100 index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a remarkable surge on Tuesday, posting its second-highest single-day gain with an increase of over 6,000 points following the announcement of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
At 9:35 AM, the index stood at 120,770, reflecting a rise of 3.96 percent or 4,603 points. By 12:50 PM, it had climbed to 122,725, marking an increase of 6,558 points or 5.6 percent. The market ultimately closed at 122,246, up 5.23 percent or 6,079 points.
According to Arif Habib Limited, this significant increase represents the second-highest single-day gain on a closing basis in terms of points, with the index finishing at 122,247 points.
During the trading session, a total of 804,779,730 shares were exchanged, with the total value of shares reaching Rs. 37.6 billion. The market saw activity from 477 companies, of which 407 recorded gains, 35 sustained losses, and the share prices of 35 companies remained unchanged.
