K-Electric has appointed Shaheryar Chishty to perform the functions of chairman during the absence of Mark Skelton, according to a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
The development follows the board’s earlier decision to appoint Chishty as an alternate director to Skelton, effective immediately. In its meeting held on March 17, 2026, the board confirmed that he will assume chairman responsibilities during Skelton’s absence.
Chishty is the founder of AsiaPak Investments, established in 2011, which has emerged as a key player in infrastructure investment. Before launching AsiaPak, he built a long career in investment banking in Hong Kong, holding senior roles at Citigroup and Nomura.
At Citigroup, he served as Head of Asia Industrials and later led North Asia mergers and acquisitions until 2009. He subsequently joined Nomura International, where he held positions including Asia Head of Industrials Investment Banking and Global Head of Industrials Investment Banking. Over an 18-year career, he raised more than $18 billion in capital and advised on transactions exceeding $60 billion.
The appointment comes amid ongoing leadership changes at K-Electric. Following the resignation of Moonis Alvi as chief executive in February, Adeeb Ahmad was appointed interim CEO with immediate effect.
