K-Electric has appointed Syed Taha as its new chief executive officer, replacing interim CEO Adeeb Ahmad, the company said in a filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Monday. The appointment will take effect from April 15, 2026.
Taha currently serves as managing director and CEO of Pakistan State Oil, a position he has held since February 2020. His selection marks the latest leadership change at the Karachi-based utility following the resignation of former CEO Moonis Alvi earlier this year.
Before joining Pakistan State Oil, Taha was executive director at Oasis Energy, overseeing the program management office of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company in Nigeria. He has also served as chief distribution officer at K-Electric and held senior roles at Shell Pakistan and Caltex Pakistan, a unit of Chevron.
Taha holds an engineering degree and an MBA in finance from the Institute of Business Administration Karachi.
The leadership change comes after a period of transition at K-Electric following Alvi’s resignation in February, which led to Ahmad’s appointment as interim CEO. The company also earlier named Shaheryar Chishty as chairman during the absence of Mark Skelton.
