The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board, chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, convened for its 13th meeting with all board members present. In a significant move to revive the cinema industry in Islamabad, the board decided to redevelop plots previously allocated for cinema construction, ensuring compliance with existing laws.
Additionally, the establishment of four new cinema sites was approved. These cinemas will be constructed to meet modern requirements and international standards, promising a boost to the local entertainment sector.
To enhance financial management, the board resolved to place the Resource Wing under Member Finance. This strategic move aims to achieve revenue targets more effectively by identifying new revenue sources, addressing weaknesses in the revenue collection process, and integrating technology and modern practices into the organization’s financial operations.
The meeting also addressed the development of the IT Park in Sector G-10, approving the hiring of transaction advisory services. Furthermore, the CDA Board endorsed the feasibility and design of a bus terminal, developed in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and authorized the Public-Private Partnership Authority to secure advisory services for various projects.
In efforts to improve the city’s sewage treatment system, the board approved the transfer of the City Sewerage Division under the Director General of Water. This decision is part of a broader initiative to enhance Islamabad’s infrastructure and public services.
