The Petroleum Division has officially rejected a fuel adjustment notification currently circulating on social media, labeling it as false and urging the public and media to avoid spreading misinformation.
In a statement directed at journalists, the division clarified that no recent press release regarding petroleum prices has been issued. The announcement follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s decision last Friday to cut petrol prices by Rs. 80 per litre, just a day after a record-high increase had been implemented.
As an import-dependent economy, Pakistan remains highly sensitive to global crude price fluctuations. Authorities emphasized that citizens should rely only on verified government sources for updates on fuel rates, warning that viral misinformation could cause unnecessary confusion and panic.
